The Art of Spray Tanning

 Sunless tanning has become the healthy and safe way to get that bronzed look without the damage.  We are committed to offer an affordable, custom, airbrushed bronze in the southeastern Michigan area.   We proudly use equipment and products from BRONZED®, a top-of-the-line company based in Las Vegas and now expanding throughout the U.S.  Due to the natural-looking tan achieved with BRONZED®, it has become the spray-tan of choice for many celebrities in the Las Vegas/Los Angeles area.  

 How do you prepare for your bronze?

Exfoliate, wax or shave the night before. For best results, you should come freshly showered and dry.  Do not wear any lotions, perfumes or make-up as these will inhibit the bronze from absorbing into the skin.  Wear dark, loose clothing to your appointment. Tight clothing can rub off your bronze.

 How long does the process take?

The session takes about 20 minutes: 10 minutes to spray and 10 minutes to dry. You most likely will be sprayed inside a portable pop up tent. You will be asked to remove jewelry, put barrier cream on your nails and wear a hair net.  You can wear a bathing suit or undergarments. The tanning solution will wash out of bathing suits and clothing. If you’re comfortable you can also go for the “no tan lines” look.

 How do I take care of my bronze?

For best results do not shower for 8-12 hours afterwards. The product needs to get fully absorbed into your skin and react with amino acids to create your full color.  Avoid sweating as this will cause streaking and uneven tanning.  During your first shower, you should rinse only and pat dry.  Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!!  And although you will look tan, please remember to wear sunscreen to protect yourself from the sun.

 How long does it last?

Generally it lasts 5-10 days depending on your skin type and how you care for your skin afterwards.  Make sure you moisturize every day.  Avoid prolonged time in water (hot baths, pools, and hot tubs).  You can purchase a spray can of BRONZED® to take home and touch up areas such as the face and feet.

 What is the ingredient that makes me bronzed?

BRONZED® contains some natural ingredients such as purified water, white tea, and aloe vera. DHA (dihydroxyacetone) is a three carbon sugar that is non-toxic and is the active ingredient in practically all sunless or self-tanning lotions and sprays.  It was originally derived from raw sugar cane, but is most often produced from a vegetable source such as sugar beets. It works by interacting with the dead skin cells found on the outer layer of your skin, resulting in a brownish (not orange!) color change depending on your individual skin reaction. It has been approved for use by the FDA for over 30 years.
